The instructional staff and administrators of the Rye School District recognize that learning is not limited to the traditional school time of 8am to 3pm or place (i.e., RJH). Learning and creating can and does occur in many locations, whether the Internet is available or not. Further, RJH recognizes that some learners may not have dedicated, reliable technology available in student homes to required to fully utilize online resources (e.g., web subscriptions, digital textbooks, online tools) that have become part of the everyday RJH digital tool belt. As in previous academic school years, upon registration at RJH, every student is assigned a dedicated, brand new Chromebook to be used for academic purposes and is to be used for the student's entire academic career at RJH. Newly starting in the 2017-2018 school year, RJH students will have the option of bringing their Chromebook out of the Rye School District buildings (at their parent's discretion) to continue access to learning tools anywhere, anyplace.
